Maumelle leaders to discuss city improvements

News
Monday night at 6, the Maumelle City Council will address which city projects to spend property tax revenue on if voters approve a bond issue in 2013 or 2014.

Last week, at a special City Council meeting, aldermen rejected a proposal to put a 6.6 mill property tax on a September ballot. Instead, they decided to go to the residents with a revised list of projects and push for a ballot measure in 2013 or 2014. This, they decided, will give voters enough time to agree on which projects to fund.

The mayor had proposed spending more than $9-million on a new indoor pool, more than $13-million on road improvements and a new exit for I-40 and $1.6-million on renovating City Hall. The plan also called for a new fire station to help cover Maumelle’s fast-growing population.

FOX16’S Kelly Dudzik will be at tonight’s meeting in Maumelle and will have a live report on FOX16 News at 9 & 10.
