Maumelle prioritizing projects

MAUMELLE, AR – Monday night, the Maumelle City Council voted to hold a Bond Project committee meeting the following Monday night at 6 to discuss future improvement projects across the city.

Two weeks ago, the City Council rejected a proposal to put a 6.6 mill continuation on the ballot in September. The Mayor had suggested five projects for this bond issue, and the City Council and some citizens did not agree to put those projects on a ballot. Instead, voters will likely be asked in 2013 or 2014 for a new millage to fund city projects which could range from a new indoor pool to road work.

Monday, some citizens spoke at the council meeting about how they want to make sure the Bond Project Committee does not duplicate working being done by the Strategic Planning Committee and the consultants being paid to come up with a 20 year plan for the city.

The Mayor also spoke Monday night about the need for a fire station on the south end of town.
