LITTLE ROCK, Ark — A young, pregnant woman is sharing new details about what happened inside a Little Rock home the day police said her boyfriend accidentally shot her in the head.

Aaliyah Castillo smiled from a hospital bed at UAMS in Little Rock, Wednesday.

“I don’t feel like I got shot in the head,” said Castillo.

Castillo said she was sitting next her boyfriend — and father of her unborn baby — Antonio Hampton, 20, inside a home near 19th and Bishop Warren, Monday afternoon, when a gun Hampton was holding fired.

“He would never hurt me purposely,” said Castillo. “His brother had put [a] bullet in the head and he didn’t tell him and the gun went off.”

She said the bullet went through Hampton’s left wrist and hit her.

“Through my temple right here,” said Castillo.

A nearly two-months pregnant Castillo could hear her head ringing.

“I had just left the doctor to see the baby,” said Castillo. “So, I thought it was the nausea pills I had just bought, because I took one and it made my head hurt.”

The 21-year-old looked down and saw blood.

“I thought I was shot in the shoulder. I didn’t know what was going on,” said Castillo.

She said people in the house were trying to calm her down, but Hampton showed the most concern.

“Him telling me ‘I’m sorry and I love you, baby,’ like, he did not mean to do that,” said Castillo.

It wasn’t until police arrived, that she found out she had a bullet lodged in her head.

“I kept telling myself I’m going to be a soldier of God. I’ve got some purpose and I’m pregnant,” said Castillo. “I can’t die … you’ve got to be there for the baby.”

Once she got to the hospital, doctors delivered the news.

“If it wouldn’t have went through [Hampton’s] wrist, it would have caused me to die,” said Castillo.

Castillo said she forgives Hampton … thanking the man above she and Hampton’s unborn child are alive.

“God is good,” said Castillo.

She expects to be out of the hospital by the end of the week and thanks all the police and hospital staff who helped save her life.

Hampton was arrested on several charges, including second degree domestic battery.
