NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – More than 200 people showed up today to pay respects to a unclaimed army veteran at his funeral.
Private First Class Gary Younggren served two tours in Vietnam.
He passes away earlier this month.
With no family nearby, his neighbors along with a patriot guard and his funeral home worked to spread the word hoping people show up to help honor the veteran for his service.
The turnout was a fitting farewell for Mr. Younggren.
“We only thought there’d be four or five people here because he talked about he didn’t have anyone – he would be absolutely stunned with this,” says his neighbors Katrina Burnette and Bentley Hovis.
The Maumelle Choir opened the ceremony volunteering their time after learning of the funeral on social media.
