PULASKI COUNTY, Ark.– Pulaski County investigators and the mother of a woman shot and killed while holding her child plea for the public’s help as the case remains unsolved for more than a year.
Tammie Fleming’s daughter April Harris was shot and killed while holding her 5-year-old, who was also shot, more than a year ago. It happened in front of their Chapel Ridge Apartments and her other children all under the age of 10 witnessed it.
Fleming said at the news conference on Friday, “We can’t leave it up to the policeman. We as a community have to step up.”
At Friday’s news conference they asked for more tips and money to increase a reward in hopes it generates the tip that will solve April Harris’ murder case.
We met with Fleming outside of her work before the news conference on Friday.
A photo of her murdered daughter sat by her computer inside her cubical.
“So every day I come to work and see that and think about my child. And we pray together every morning and then I start my day. But not a day goes by (and) not a minute goes by that I don’t think about April.”

Friday marks one year and 3 months since the murder.
Fleming, investigators and the sheriff all talked at the afternoon news conference.
Investigator Chris Lowery said, “It’s just time to see if somebody’s got something out there that would help me tie it all together.”
April 19, 2019, marked 1 year and 5 months since the 30-year-old was gunned down while holding her 5-year-old daughter.
We found more than half a dozen reports our stations filed since the murder. We learned those have generated tips for investigators but not the tip they need. So Fleming is asking people to help up the $10,000 reward Crimestoppers continues to offer.

Fleming said, ‘If anyone is out there that can help raise money toward the rewards or give any type of donation we’re asking.”
As the mother explained that she relies on her faith to stay strong for her grandkids — and to stay positive they’ll find closure the sun shined briefly on that gloomy day.
“That was April,” she said.
We learned from her that the 5-year-old girl who was also shot is doing well and is excelling in school along with her three other kids who witnessed the shooting.
People with a tip or people wanting to donate to up the reward should contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at (501)340-8477.
