Police: 14-Year-Old Injured in Pine Bluff Shooting

PINE BLUFF, Ark.- A 14-year-old is in critical condition after a shooting in Pine Bluff, police say. 

In a news release Monday, officials say officers responded to a shots fired call on Dec. 19 around 9:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Georgia St. 

The grandmother of the victim told police she had given her keys to her grandchild to unlock the door. She also told police she ducked down when someone began shooting across the street. The woman told police when the shooting was over, her husband told her that her grandchild had been shot. 

Investigators say the 14-year-old was an innocent bystander.

Pine Bluff Police say as of Monday, the child remains in critical condition in a Little Rock hospital. 

Investigators say they found a wrecked vehicle off the road near the scene of the shooting. The driver told police a passenger in a vehicle behind him started shooting at him as he was traveling north on Georgia St. He told police when he ducked down, his vehicle flipped into a field. The driver was not seriously injured and was questioned and released.
