Proposal would open city jobs to convicted felons in Pine Bluff

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Convicted felons could soon find a job with the City of Pine Bluff if a new proposal is passed.

Under this act, the city would no longer require prospective employees to list if they’ve been convicted of a felony on their job application.

It’s a measure Mayor Shirley Washington spoke in support of during her State of the City address.

She calls it a key way to help the community move forward.

“For too many of our citizens a mistake they have made when growing up keeps them away from success,” says Mayor Shirley Washington.

City council members are expected to take up this proposal during their meeting on Monday.
