LITTLE ROCK, AR – A jailer at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility (PCRDF) has been arrested.

Demon A. Tate, 37, of Sherwood, is accused of bringing drugs into the jail.

The official charges against him are:
  • 3 counts of furnishing prohibited articles (drugs)
  • 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
Tate was taken into custody on Saturday while he was on duty. He has been with the agency since April 2011.

The jailer is accused of bringing in a pillbox containing 22 pills and a large metal fork in a bag with the pills.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says a search of Tate’s backpack turned up a spray bottle and a water bottle with a yellow liquid believed to be an unauthorized cleaning chemical. Numerous plastic baggies were found with the pills and in the backpack, the arrest report said.

Tate will answer the charges in Pulaski County District Court on April 28.

This isn’t Tate’s first run in with the law.

According to a Benton Police Department report, officers responded to an argument between Tate and his child’s principal last month at a local elementary school.

The report states that Tate was on the school playground without permission when it happened.
