Rape Victim Burned & Held Against Her Will

SEARCY, Ark.- A White County man is in jail after he was arrested over the weekend accused of kidnapping and raping a young woman.

Tyrone Harris, 30, was arrested Saturday after police served a search warrant.

Searcy Police spoke to the victim at the hospital.

She told them Thursday she was at an apartment on West Center St. and said that Harris was also there.

She told police Harris accused her of stealing his phone, then started kicking and punching her.

According to the arrest affidavit the victim said Harris and another female burned her leg using an iron and a torch.  She said she was duct taped and raped.

“My understanding is there was a phone that was missing that Harris owned,” says Lt. Steve Hernandez, Searcy PD.  “Harris accused our victim of taking the phone and was basically holding her against her will till he found his phone.”

She escaped through a window on Friday and got a ride to the hospital.

Harris is facing felony charges of kidnapping and rape.  His bond has been set at $40,000.

The investigation is ongoing.  Police say they are looking to see if others involved in the battery of the victim will be charged.
