Salon stylists: Evicted without notice

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Angela Jackson thought she would be styling hair for much of Friday, but that didn’t happen. She is one of at least 8 tenants who say their leases were terminated without notice.

“I got here, put my key in the lock and it didn’t work,” said Jackson.

Jackson says her contract doesn’t end until November and her rent is up to date. So she doesn’t know why she is being evicted.

However, she still has to pack up her curlers and leave.

“They didn’t give us any written notice, any verbal notice, no emails, no anything. They are just going come here and say the building has to be shut down without letting us know,” said Jackson.

At least 7 other stylists inside the former Isoplus building have to go too. Some have made arrangements. But there are others, like Kentrell Vurnette Jr., who doesn’t have any options.

“I am highly upset. I don’t know what I am going to do. I have a wedding tomorrow of 15 people. I have 7 more clients today,” said Vurnette, Jr.

Vurnette says he is trying to see as many clients as possible before he has to leave.

“I don’t know what I am going to do. Where am I going to go, but to God be the glory,” said Vurnette.

The building is managed by Flake and Kelley Law Firm. They did not want to comment on the matter.
