The City of Sherwood is giving us a sneak peek at the renderings of the new splash pad!

The theme of the 6,000 square foot facility is “Sherwood Forest.”

It will have shaded areas, custom-made water features and all the water will be recycled.

It’s on the same property the city already owns at 1111 West Maryland by the farmer’s market pavilion.

The groundbreaking on the 1.3 million dollar project is expected around April 1, 2018. Construction is expected to take about 200 days, weather permitting.

“So it won’t be used this year, but it will be the highlight next year when you see it there then the kids will enjoy it and we’re looking ward to that day,” Sonny Janssen, the Sherwood Parks and Rec Director said.

Due to some redesigns, Janssen says the project got behind schedule.

Back in Nov. 2016, a Sherwood bond passed to help build the new splash pad, plus soccer fields and a tennis complex.

Bids will soon go out for the soccer fields and tennis complex.

All projects expected to be complete by the end of 2019.
