VAN BUREN, Ark. – Thirty pounds of marijuana has been seized by the Arkansas Highway Police during the safety inspection of a truck carrying a load of automobiles along Interstate 40.
It happened last Tuesday (May 15).
In a news release issued Monday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) says the drugs had been hidden in the fuel tank of a Ford pickup that was part of the load.
In addition to the marijuana, $7,160 in cash was confiscated.
ARDOT says the truck owned by a Fort Lauderdale, Florida company had left from Colorado and was delivering the vehicles to Kansas and Miami.
Three Miami men, all 31-years-old, were arrested at the scene. They are identified as Leonardo Santana, Leonel Santana and Alejandro Figueroa. All are charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.
