Pine Bluff teen who survived tornado describes storm

State News

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A local teen who lost his home to a tornado last Wednesday night didn’t let the situation ruin prom night.

The family of Jason Sanders, 18, is one of dozens left homeless after severe weather ripped through Pine Bluff.

We talked to the teen as he tried to salvage some of his belongings.

He tells us he’s just grateful he made it through safely.

“Before I could make it to another closet for safety it was over. And we opened the door and looked outside and all the live wiring was down and five transformers blew right in front of us and we went back in for safety,” Jason says.

The teen is getting help from relatives until his family finds a new home.

He’ll be graduating from high school in a week.
