HARTFORD, Ark. (KNWA) – The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has arrested three people in connection with vandalism at a coal mine in Hartford.

It was tips from the public that helped in making the arrests, according to the SCSO, and the agency extended a “thank you” for the information.

“[We] were also able to gather evidence resulting in the arrest of the three. One was an adult and two were juveniles,” stated the SCSO.

Christian Cates, 18, of Hartford, was arrested for two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Sixteen- and 17-year-old boys face charges for unlawful burning and criminal mischief — both felonies. The SCSO did not release their booking photos because they are juveniles.

The incident happened on, or before, March 15, and damaged about $5,000 of equipment located inside the mine, according to investigators.
