VAN BUREN, Ark. (KNWA) – A part-time pastor from Van Buren has been arrested for second-degree sexual assault.

Fransisco Porras, 51, is alleged to have inappropriate sexual contact with multiple juveniles in his capacity as a part-time pastor of a church. He was taken into custody on Monday.

According to a Van Buren Police Department news release, Rose of Sharon Church is a newly formed church and does not have a building of its own, but was meeting in locations in Van Buren.

The investigation was opened after a parent noticed suspicious text messages from Porras on her child’s phone. Porras was later interviewed by Van Buren Detectives and was placed under arrest.

Investigators found evidence that shows at least one assault occurring in 2018. Detectives continue to investigate this incident.

Porras was booked into the Crawford County Detention Center and faces four counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Anyone with information that would be helpful to this case is encouraged to contact Detective Jay Baker at 479-471-5081.
