Arkansas Makes 1st Purchase from Caterpillar

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The State of Arkansas has made its first purchase from Caterpillar since the company opened its motor grade operations in North Little Rock in 2010.

Governor Mike Beebe visited the location on Monday to see the state’s first big purchase from the new Arkansas company.

“This is an example of Arkansas paying back a company that’s invested a lot in our state and hiring a lot of people in our state, but we don’t do it just to be thankful. We do it because it’s a great product,” Beebe said.

Caterpillar received $3 million from the governor’s quick action closing fund to help the project along.

The $50 million fund was first approved by the Arkansas legislature in 2007, and renewed in 2009.
