Top warrior in Arkansas competition

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – In a matter of days, we’ll know who the best warrior in Arkansas is. A competition to figure it out is now underway at Camp Robinson.

Spc. Joshua Glass already beat out 3600 fellow National Guardsmen to get to this point in the competition, so did the other nine soldiers on the firing line.

It’s a week-long competition and it starts with weapons qualifications. Here, each competitor takes 40 shots from three different positions and hits as many targets as they can.

“It’s quite a bit of pressure,” admitted Glass. “Throughout my career I’ve done things, but this is probably the most prestigious as far as competition goes. I mean it’s for the whole state of Arkansas.”

We don’t know the results of the weapons qualification part of the competition yet, but there’s still a lot more to go. That includes a combat water survival test, a combatives tournament, even a mystery event.

So far, Spc. Glass thinks he’s doing ok, saying he’s had better days and he’s had worse. Now he’s just preparing for the next event.

“I think we’ve got a couple of written exams and then after that the fun stuff starts,” he said. “You know, the water and the ruck marching and kinda start separating the men from the boys a little bit.”

The competition goes through Friday. Whoever wins will have the opportunity to represent Arkansas in a national competition to determine the best warrior in the country.
