Suspicious Device Found after Theft Arrest in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. –  Authorities found a suspicious device among a suspect’s personal items have he was in custody for an alleged theft.  

According to a news release, the Clarksville Police Department was called to Walmart in regards to a theft. 

Officers at the scene found probable cause to arrest Jacob Wayne Card, 38. 

Card was taken to the Johnson County Detention Center and during the inventory search of Card’s personal belongings a suspicious device was found in his backpack.

The device was removed from the intake area at the detention center and moved to a secure area of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. The Arkansas State Police and Fort Smith Bomb Squad were called to the scene.

The Fort Smith Bomb Squad inspected the suspicious device and took custody for destruction at a later time. 

Jacob Card is being held at the Johnson County Detention Center awaiting a Bond Hearing on preliminary Felony charges and Misdemeanor Theft of Property.
