SEARCY, AR – Two men are jailed in Searcy after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars in property during home break-ins last month.

The White County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says Johnny Whaley, 34 of Judsonia, is charged in the following residential burglaries:
  • February 11 – home on Highway 11
  • February 18 – home on Highway 267 South
  • February 20 – home on 157 North
In the February 11 burglary, Tyler Coughlin, 27, of Bald Knob, is charged along with Whaley. The WCSO says in that case about 12-thousand-dollars worth of property was stolen.

Deputies say further investigation resulted in Coughlin and Whaley being found in possession of about two-thousand-dollars worth of property from the home.

The total combined value of property removed from homes in the February 18 and 20 cases was estimated at six-thousand-dollars.

The WCSO says further investigation revealed that Whaley sold some of the property and was found in possession of about three-thousand-dollars worth of property when he was arrested last month in a Searcy motel room on unrelated drug charges.

Theft charges were filed against Whaley and forwarded to the White County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. Deputies say this development stems from ongoing investigations involving Whaley as a suspect.

Whaley could face more charges as the investigation continues.
