FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) – A local woman accused of trying to kidnap a realtor at gunpoint last week has bonded out of jail.

A bond of $100,000 was set Monday morning for Amilya Barcenas, 25.

She is due back in court on May 27.

Original story (April 24):
FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) – Police say a woman tried to kidnap a realtor at gunpoint Friday morning.

According to the police report, the realtor was showing a house on Hidden Creek Drive to a woman named “Makayla.” The realtor told officers that when “Makayla” arrived she was carrying a diaper bag. The realtor says after preparing some papers for “Makayla” to sign, she turned and saw “Makayla” was pointing a gun at her.

The realtor told police that “Makayla” threw a zip tie on the counter and told her to tie herself up, but the realtor refused. She says “Makayla” told her she needed to go to an ATM and withdraw money. After pleading with “Makayla” to put the gun away, the realtor says “Makayla” briefly set the gun in the diaper bag. The realtor ran out of the house and to another home down the street to get help.

A short time later, officers noticed a vehicle driving slowly through the neighborhood where the crime occurred. Police say there was a man and woman in the car, and the woman matched the description given of “Makayla.” The man told police that the woman came to his house and asked for help finding her husband and child. She claimed she had been in the neighborhood looking at houses for sale and forgotten where she’d parked her car. Investigators also say they found a .38 revolver in her diaper bag.

The suspect was identified as Amilya Barcenas, 25, of Fayetteville. She faces charges of Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping and Criminal Mischief.
