Update: Little Rock Police Release Details in Friday Night Homicide Investigation

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A man is dead after being shot Friday, police are investigating it as a homicide.
 
The victim was identified as 62-year-old Lawrence Butler of Little Rock. 

On Friday night, shortly before 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to 2718 Arch Street on an unknown trouble call. 

Upon arrival officers made contact with a man who advised that he came over to visit his cousin and watch the NBA game. 

The man said that he could not get his cousin to come to the door but was able to look inside the residence and see him slumped over. 

The relative called 911. 

Officers requested the Little Rock Fire Department to respond and assist in gaining entry into the residence. 

Once inside officers located a Butler, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.  
 
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene. 

Detectives interviewed the cousin as well as another individual who was a roommate of the victim, and investigators collected evidence from the scene. 

The coroner transported the body to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. 

At this time there is no suspect information. 

The investigation is continuing.
