What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is an appliance that conditions the air in your home. It is basically a refrigerated air conditioning system in which the air flow is instantly reversible. For example, the heat pump uses electricity to absorb warm air and change it into cooler air during the summer. It works just the opposite way in the winter – absorbing cool air and turning it into warmer air. Comparable to the combined cost of a furnace and an air conditioning unit, the heat pump can be a more economical choice. Since it combines the two systems, only one unit needs to be purchased and maintained. For more detailed information, contact your local heating services professional.
