SALINE COUNTY, Ark.-Scary moments for a Saline County woman who came home to thieves inside her home.
The woman she says she jumped into action and stopped one of the men from getting away.
The Saline County Sheriff’s office says Jeffrey Leatherwood, 30, faces a number of charges.
He’s being held on $100,000 bond.
The woman says she’s grateful to be alive because things could have been much worse.
She says the phone service in the small town of Paron isn’t so great and she believes if there was a sub station in the area officials could have done more and got the two men who got away.
The woman says she feels violated.
“I don’t have the safety that I need to be able to sleep safely in my home,” the woman said.
The woman says she pulled up to her house in Saline County Sunday morning and says three people were loading items onto a truck.
“One man came out with a black mask taking it off,” the woman said.
The woman says one of the men jumped in the truck.
“He looked me in the eyes and kept ramming me,” the woman said.
She says the man lead her on a small chase down 12th street in Paron before he crashed into a tree.
“He casually climbs out of his truck and walks into the woods and steals another car,” the woman said.
Saline County deputies eventually caught up with the car and arrested Jeffrey Leatherwood.
“It was horrid. It was a motion picture,” the woman said.
The woman says during the chaos, two other people were still inside her home.
“They took things that would be easily pawned like our computer and hunting equipment,” the woman said.
The woman says valuables can be replaces and believes a sub station in the area can help crack down on crime.
“Paron doesn’t have police officers we don’t have enough sheriff’s I knew they couldn’t get to me,” the woman said.
Leatherwood faces a number of charges including aggravated assault and residential burglary.
Deputies are still looking for the two other people who got away.
