DANVILLE, AR – A Yell County jailer is behind bars after he allegedly provided prohibited items to inmates at the Dardanelle jail.

Yell County Sheriff Bill Gilkey announced today the arrest of Ryan Miller, 28, of Russellville, on January 31, following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Sheriff’s Office.

CID officers obtained information last week that Miller, who began working as a Yell County jailer four months ago, had allegedly been providing prohibited items to inmates at the Dardanelle jail.

According to a report, officers then interviewed inmates at the facility and conducted a sting operation which resulted in Miller’s arrest early Saturday morning.

Miller was taken into custody at the Dardanelle facility after he allegedly provided a controlled substance to an inmate. Miller was taken to the Conway County Jail in Morrilton where he stayed over the weekend after his employment with Yell County was terminated.

His bond was set at $2,500.

Miller awaits both an appearance in Yell County Circuit Court before Judge Jerry Don Ramey, and the filing of formal charges by Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum, II, of Danville.

Lt. Moore reported that charges are anticipated to include furnishing prohibited articles and possession of a controlled substance.
