Hog Recruiting

By Otis Kirk

Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman cornerback Adonis Otey has signed with USC.

Otey, who committed to Arkansas on Oct. 1, didn’t sign early. He took an official visit to USC during the Jan. 25 weekend and had narrowed his final decision down to the Hogs and Trojans. His teammate, wide receiver Trey Knox, inked with Arkansas in December and is now enrolled in classes.

Otey spent the majority of his senior season on offense, but did play some defense. He had five tackles and one interception on defense. He will be a cornerback in college.

On offense, Otey completed 8 of 14 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, rushed 65 times for 667 yards and eight touchdowns while also catching 13 passes for 380 yards and another five touchdowns. He also returned five kickoffs for 46 yards and three punts for 105 yards.

Today, the Hogs have signed Mansfield (Texas) Legacy safety Jalen Catalon, Phenix City (Ala.) Central running back A’Montae Spivey, Pulaski Academy tight end Hudson Henry and Warren wide receiver Treylon Burks.

They are now waiting word on Dodge City (Kan.) Community College linebacker Lakia Henry and Dyersburg (Tenn.) Central linebacker Chris Russell. It will be Hogs, Texas or Ole Miss for Henry while Russell has Razorbacks and Texas A&M as finalists.
