FAYETTEVILE, AR (KNWA) – A former Arkansas Razorback football player has been arrested on DWI charges.

Former Hogs linebacker Weston Dacus, 28, of Springdale, was picked up by officers with the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) early Saturday morning. he is also facing charges for speeding.

According to the FPD, Dacus was pulled over at the intersection of College and Township, for going 58 mph in a 40 mph zone. During the traffic stop, an officer reports alcohol could be smelled coming from the car. Police also report that Dacus’ eyes were bloodshot and watery. 

The arresting officer says Dacus admitted to having “a few” drinks earlier in the evening, and said he was coming from Dickson St., heading to his home. After failing a field sobriety test, Dacus was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail. The police report shows Dacus blew a .18 on the Breath Alcohol Content (BAC) test, more than twice the legal limit.

Dacus is currently out on bond, and is set to appear in court on Sept. 8 at 9 a.m.

Dacus played 47 games with the Razorbacks from 2004 to 2007. In 2008, Dacus was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs for one season.
