Victory Over Violence Event Headed to Pine Bluff

Victory Walk set for Saturday, October 27

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News Release) -- After a rash of recent crime in Pine Bluff, Victory Over Violence will take its Victory Walk outside of the Little Rock city limits for the first time. The community walk is set to take place Saturday, October 27

The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. It will begin and end at Central Park.

The Victory Walk was announced in August at a time when Pine Bluff experienced four homicides in just three days. While the overall murder rate remains down year-to-year, there are certainly concerns among city leaders about the crime increase.

The goal of the event is to support neighborhoods and bring people together. Everyone's invited to join in for the walk. Following the walk, there will be a family-friendly event with free food, kids activities and giveaways.

The KARK/Fox16 Victory Over Violence campaign was formed in February 2017 following the fatal shootings of two Little Rock toddlers.

The concept of the Victory Walk was developed after months of meetings and brainstorming with partner organizations and leaders from across the city. More than 2,800 people have attended Victory Walks since the first event in May 2017.

The goal of the Victory Over Violence campaign is to unite community groups and leaders and be a resource for reducing violent crime and changing lives through improvements in education, jobs, mentoring and hunger.
