MONDAY 10 AM UPDATE – Tropical Storm Beta continues toward the central Texas coastline Monday. As of 10 AM CDT, the storm had maximum sustained wind at 50 mph and was moving west/northwest at 7 mph.
Beta is forecast to make landfall near Victoria, Texas late Monday. Tropical storm force wind is expected along the central Texas coast from Corpus Christi to Galveston today and tomorrow, where there could also be 1′-4′ of storm surge. Flooding remains a concern from central Texas coast to southwestern Louisiana. Southwest Arkansas also has the possibility of some flooding Tuesday through Thursday morning.
The slow moving storm will weaken over far southeastern Texas through mid-week before traveling to the northeast as a deteriorating tropical system.
Impacts to Arkansas are forecast in the form of rainfall. The highest rainfall totals will likely be in the southern half of the state (~3 inches). Localized flash flooding is possible.
A shift in Beta’s path; however, could mean more or less rainfall for Arkansas. Stay with FOX16 News as we continue to update this forecast.
